The style of Tae Kwon Do-Karate that is taught at Abundio’s Studio is a Jhoon Rhee based system. Jhoon Rhee is one of the most revered instructors in the world and is known as the father of American Tae Kwon Do-Karate. Mr. Rhee came to Texas during his tour of Duty in the Korean Army in the 1950’s and in 1956 when his enlistment was finished he created and designed what some have heralded as a complete revolution in physical education, the study and implementation of the Korean self-defense system known as Tae Kwon Do-Karate. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is the product of the Gracie brothers and originally designed by Helio Gracie after training in Japanese Jiu Jitsu for self-defense. Improvised and adapted for life in the violent streets of Brazil it has spread rapidly throughout the world over the past 75 years but has gained tremendous notoriety and popularity over the past two decades with the rise of mixed martial arts as sport. Mixed martial arts is the study and combining of multiple martial arts systems such as Tae Kwon Do-Karate, Muy Thai boxing, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Greco-Roman wrestling, American boxing and variations on these foundational styles.
Abundio’s Studio teaches most of these traditional contact styles in private sessions and group classes while offering a variety of conditioning classes incorporating the martial arts concepts into formats that are non-contact in nature but maintain the athleticism and intensity required to perform them. Training like a martial artist and the fitness benefits associated with this type of training can be realized at Abundios Studio because of the world-class training facility that provides numerous weight machines and free weights, tread mills, stair steppers and climbers, as well as the dynamic variety of fitness and conditioning programs innovated by Abundio Munoz' expansive wealth of knowledge and experience.
